The first episode is called Pirate Camp and has Uniqua and Pablo training under the illustrious Captain Austin in order to become full-fledged pirates. ![]() While I didn't really find that the episodes have a strong teaching message (in fact, some things taught were downright wrong, but more on that later), they are cheerful, fun and something kids would enjoy. They sing about everything and dance a good bit too, but the songs are catchy, I must admit, and they are well done. The fourth has a fantasy theme based on dragons, fairies and goblins, and didn't seem to fit into the theme very well. The Backyardigans: We Arrrr Pirates! is a nice compilation DVD containing four episodes, three of which are centered on pirate or sea-faring themes. The Backyardigans is a delightful CG animated kids' show starring five animal kids who have all sorts of adventures, right in their backyards! Austin, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Uniqua go on very creative adventures each day, only to wrap things up just in time for a snack, with their fantasy landscapes fading into the background and their backyards coming back into view.
